I am about 6', 225lbs, 62 yo. Chronic back pain for 20 years and recently cervical neck pain that radiates down both arms with very sharp pain in the shoulders and neck. Sitting is the only tolerable position for the cervical pain, but sitting makes my lower back pain worse. Youtube had a top 10 list for best cervical pillows. This Therapeutica pillow was #2 and the Coop Adjustable home pillow was #1. I bought both.
The GREAT: I am a back sleeper primarily 85-90% of the time. The Therapeutica excels over any and every pillow I ever tried. The combination of the depression in the pillow for your head and the neck support appendage is the key to cervical pain free sleep. 10-15% of the time I sleep on my side. I bought the XL pillow with the high sides for side sleep. Those sides are very firm and support your head while taking pressure of the shoulders.
The minor bad: My only functional criticism is that for me the sides may be too firm. Not that comfortable on the side of my face when side sleeping, however my focus is escaping extreme pain. It could retain heat in summer but I don't know yet.
The ****: Well the pillow its self is ****. But very functional and fits in a regular king size pillow case. The price is also fairly high, but what is laying down without pain worth? It also does take some time to get use to. On your back your head is in a valley, when you want to change to side it takes effort.
Overall amazing for back sleepers and neck pain!
